DIFOS

Solar Photometer

Institutes:
Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation (IZMIRAN)

Principal Investigators:
Prof. V.N.Oraevsky

Scientific goals

The DIFOS photometer was designed to study global solar oscillations

Technical parameters

  • Continuous registration of the light flux intensity from the whole Solar disk in three optical spectral channels:
    • 550 nm with bandpass of 100 nm
    • 750 nm with bandpass of 100 nm (formed by glass optic filters)
    • 400 nm - 1100 nm (defined by spectral characteristics of silicon photosensor)
  • Relative light flux resolusion - 2*10-5 Io for 16 seconds of signal integrating during measuring cycle
  • Output data in 16-bit binary code
  • Thermostating of photosensors
  • Pointing to the Sun within the accuracy of 10 arc. minutes supported by orientation system of the satellite
  • Power consumption - 20 W
